Graduate hourly assistant for scripting and automation at the Digital Curation unit of the University Library, contributing to the efficient management and accessibility of information resources. My work involves writing code and documentation for the end-to-end automation of processes such as directory traversal, file path modification, bulk conversion of files saved in legacy file formats (eg. WordStar, MacWrite, WordPerfect, etc.) and stored in complex nested directory structures into modern accessible formats (PDFs), bulk file and folder renaming, directory restructuring, correcting file extension mismatches, and related tasks. Created a Python application using Tkinter for performing bulk file conversions on legacy digital collections, reducing weekly manual effort by 40+ hours.

Graduate hourly research assistant aiding Dr Tatyana Deryugina. Research Intern

• Developed filter plugins written in Java for the open-source image processing software, ImageJ.
• Implemented multithreading in the algorithm for a convolution filter to speed up its efficiency on high-resolution images. When the multithreaded filter was applied on large images, a 24% improvement in processing speed on average was observed.
• Authored a research paper titled “Improving the speed of ImageJ filtering through threads” which was published in the international SPIE (Society of Photo Instrumentation Engineers) conference, “Applications of Digital Image Processing XLV”.
